People often go hog wild when it comes to getting baby things- and there's so much! From pressure-sensitive crib alarm pads to baby brain-enhancing videos, you can build an entire world around your baby, made entirely of baby-specific stuff. But why bother? It's not good for the baby, whose needs are simple and focused on you, and it's not good for you- more stuff, more money flying out the window, more disconnection from your child. Think simple when baby-shopping, and think reusable. And focus on the cost-vs-benefit ratio; the brain-enhancing videos are tempting, but research has shown that they don't do anything more for your child's brain than Dog the Bounty Hunter. The single best thing you can do for your baby's brain is play with her, talk to her and cuddle her.
